Chair of the Performing Arts Department & Professor of Theatre Arts at the Community College of Denver, Nick Taylor earned a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon & bachelor's & master's degrees from Virginia Tech.
As a trained generalist, his areas of specialty are in Performance (movement, dialects, & actor presence), Theory (acting, directing, & performance), & Dramatic Literature (including Theatre History & Culture). His most recent eperience has been in Arts Leadership & Management. His research interests include Kentucky-born expatriate playwright Naomi Wallace, exploring the physical ramifications of how labor & love affect the body, integrating Web 2.0 technology into the liberal arts classroom, & the aesthetics of camp.
Creatively, his agenda includes exploring & elucidating challenges to actor presence, performing work that asks larger questions of identity & resistance, reinterpreting classical texts, & proposing counter-narratives to the status quo.
